Across the world, there are thousands and thousands of incredible events and festivals to attend. In this series of blogs, I will focus on select events that I believe deserve extra attention. The first featured event is the Keels & Wheels festival located in Seabrook, Texas!

The Event

Keels & Wheels is a classic car and vintage wooden boat show located in Texas. The event will run through May 5-6 and feature many vendors and exhibitions. Keels & Wheels originated from the goal to raise significant funds for local charities while producing an impressive festival that would draw participants and spectators from every corner of the country and even Europe. So far, the event has raised $1.7 million over the past 22 years.

Over the course of the weekend, visitors can see plenty of classic cars and vintage boats. Keels & Wheels welcomes approximately 200 vehicles and 100 boats for the event! The classic cars are divided into roughly 40 classes, and judges present awards to each category. Similarly, the wooden boats are divided into 20 classes and also have formal judging. Prizes such as the Best of Class and Silver in each class are awarded to both the boat and car classes on the second day of the event. There will also be entertainment such as the ReMax Skydiving Team and Kid’s Build-a-Boat exhibit. Keels & Wheels also offer a raffle car drawing on Sunday!

Charities

While Keels & Wheels has raised funds for many local charities, this year’s event will raise money for Today’s Harbor for Children. Today’s Harbor for Children aims to empower children who have faced abuse, neglect, and hardships. Their mission is to help children gain control of their future by providing them with a place in the residential community, a family-like structure, and the resources and education to help them move forward.
